The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparrow is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tatsuhiko Jr sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Tatsuhiko Jr closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tatsuhiko Jr lands in his opponent's guard.
Sparrow is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sparrow is trying to control the position but Tatsuhiko Jr postures up.
Tatsuhiko Jr has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Tatsuhiko Jr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sparrow swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sparrow is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Tatsuhiko Jr frees his head nicely. Oh but Sparrow has switched to an armbar! Tatsuhiko Jr is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
