Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jezze James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Spiller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spiller has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. David Spiller has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Spiller!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Dean Styles and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from James does no damage.
David Spiller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Spiller. No joy for James on that attempt.
James misses with a two punch combination.
Spiller slips a jab and a cross from James.

and Spiller counters with a straight right hand.
Spiller slaps away a takedown attempt from James, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jezze James. That's going to take a lot out of him.

enabling Spiller to counter with a crisp jab.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Spiller counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
James throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Spiller on the side of the head.
Spiller throws a jab but it's blocked by James.

Spiller throws a hook to the side of James's head but James sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
James takes a swing at Spiller's ribcage but misses.
Spiller pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Spiller dips to his left and cracks James with an uppercut!
Spiller misses with a few strikes there.
Spiller throws a series of punches but James avoids them all with ease.
James misses with a few strikes there.
Spiller misses with a hook
and James counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Spiller misses with the combination.
James keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
James lands a really nice looking cross but Spiller seems unphased.
James misses with a double jab

and Spiller counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for James!

James is in all sorts of trouble here.

James throwing hammer fists to the chest of Spiller. What's that going to do exactly?
Spiller takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Spiller tries to control but James wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James is looking to get to half guard.
Spiller avoids the attempt from James to control.
James bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Spiller is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Spiller can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. David Spiller wasn't active enough on the ground.
A slow jab from Spiller misses its intended target.
Spiller connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Spiller might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
James closes the distance looking to clinch

and Spiller counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in James's guard now.

James looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

James has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Spiller should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, James has tightened it up now! Spiller should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
