PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clay French (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hank Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clay French!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hank Hill!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
French shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hill sprawls well. Hill wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. French gets slowly back to his feet.
A slow jab from Hill misses its intended target.

Hill throws a hook but French blocks it.
French defending well as Hill loads up on a big left hand.
French changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hill tries to avoid it but French manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hill to the ground. Hill escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clay French. That's going to take a lot out of him.
French misses with a takedown attempt - Hill sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hill. French does a little dance to reset his feet.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

French goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hill rolls with the submission and now he's on top in French's guard! Nice work there by Hill!

French takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Hill gets to mount! French was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

BOOM! Hill connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hill slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Hill really doesn't want to stay on the ground with French. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hill can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hill is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of French's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take French's back!

That was a close second round but I would say that Clay French will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Hill cracks French with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

French drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says French as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Hill screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with French! Nice submission victory there!
