Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrey Fokin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Clay!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Dean Styles and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Clay looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Fokin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Clay defends it easily.
Fokin looking to control.

Clay stands up and waves to Fokin to follow him.
Fokin doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Clay counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fokin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clay throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Fokin looking to control.

Fokin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Clay gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Clay looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
I looks like Clay might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Clay pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fokin is keeping the position for now.

Clay gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Clay.
Fokin can't do much from the bottom here.

Clay is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fokin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Fokin struggling a bit here.
Fokin is looking for a sweep.

Clay in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Fokin can't do much from the bottom here.
Clay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fokin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fokin tries to bench press Clay off him but Clay keeps the position.
Fokin is trying to control Clay's posture but Clay avoids it.

Clay looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Fokin manages to get back to half guard.

Fokin looking for submissions off his back.
Clay throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fokin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Clay is working away from the top position though.
Fokin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Clay seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fokin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Clay is trying to control the action in half guard but Fokin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Fokin is pressing down on Clay's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Clay looking to pass the guard.

Fokin looking for a guillotine here but Clay defends easily.

Clay throwing strikes from guard but Fokin blocks nicely.
Clay must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fokin controls Clay momentarily but Clay frees himself.

Fokin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Clay can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fokin looking for a guillotine here but Clay defends easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Clay drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Clay jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jake Clay will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fokin fails with the takedown

and Clay counters by clinching up.
A nice right hand lands inside from Clay.

Clay's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fokin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Clay counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Fokin tries for a takedown but Clay circles away easily

and Clay moves into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrey Fokin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Clay pulls guard.
Clay is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Fokin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Clay looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Clay looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Clay!
Fokin is trying to get back to half guard.

Clay is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Fokin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Clay is breathing heavily.

Fokin is looking to regain half guard here but Clay keeps moving and retains side control.
Fokin is trying to control Clay's posture but Clay avoids it.
Fokin is looking for a sweep.

Clay is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fokin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fokin is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Fokin can't do much from the bottom here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fokin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Clay is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Clay is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fokin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Clay uses his free foot to push down on Fokin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fokin.

Clay lands with some strikes.
Fokin wants to hold on but Clay pushes him away.
Fokin manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Clay trying to advance position but Fokin counters by regaining guard.
Jake Clay has got the better of the ground game so far.
Clay wants to pass the guard but Fokin is keeping the position.

Fokin pushes a forearm under Clay's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Clay is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
