A fine choice. The crowd seem to be enjoying Porter's choice of entrance music: Red Hot Chili Peppers - Roller Coaster of Love. Nino Pagnotto could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Matt Porter's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Porter!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pagnotto changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Porter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Porter is looking for a sweep.
Pagnotto trying to control the position but Porter is working away.
Porter is trying to escape the position but Pagnotto is controlling the position.
Pagnotto fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Porter wants to get back to his feet.
Pagnotto trying to control the action but Porter is working from the bottom.
Porter is trying to get back to his feet.
Porter wants to control but Pagnotto postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Porter regains half guard there - taking advantage of Pagnotto's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Good leg kick by Porter there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

so Pagnotto counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Porter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Pagnotto decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Porter throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pagnotto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Porter is fending him off so far but Pagnotto persists. Nope, Porter circles away and we're back to standing.

Pagnotto feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Porter is looking for a triangle but Pagnotto pushes his legs off easily.
Porter is breathing heavily.
Porter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pagnotto seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Porter looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Pagnotto has picked Porter up and slammed him! Porter can't keep hold of the triangle and Pagnotto manages to pass to side control!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Porter does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Porter, right into the meat.
Matt Porter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pagnotto shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Pagnotto stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Porter.
Porter throws a right hand that misses

and Pagnotto counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pagnotto throwing shots but Porter is blocking nicely.

Pagnotto looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Porter!

Nino Pagnotto is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Porter's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Pagnotto takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pagnotto has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pagnotto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
