The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rat throws a right and a left that Potter avoids nicely.
Rat scores with a hook to the body. Potter takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Rat throws an off balance right hand
enabling Potter to counter with a crisp jab.
Rat swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Potter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rat is trying to defend but Potter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Potter is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Rat is defending against the submission attempts here by Potter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Potter is looking for a kimura but Rat is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Potter to get the leverage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rat can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rat is trying to stand up here but Potter is controlling him well.
Potter wants to free his trapped foot but Rat is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rat pushes Potter off but Potter dives into side control.

Potter wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rat, who protects the arm well.

Potter has hold of Rat's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Rat tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Potter cranks the arm and Rat screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Rat, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
