The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Latrell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gilden sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Latrell somewhat.
Latrell shoots in but no luck this time.
Gilden throws a lazy head kick

and Latrell counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Latrell.

Gilden is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gilden looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Latrell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gilden has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Latrell has managed to get both his arms back between Gilden's legs - danger averted.

Gilden working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Latrell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Latrell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Latrell is really struggling to control Gilden but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Gilden has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Latrell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Latrell is sitting in close to Gilden's body. Gilden has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Latrell is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Latrell is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Gilden.
