Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Corey Cormier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shooter McGavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cormier comes to the cage accompanied by Pharoahe Monch - Simon Says. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corey Cormier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shooter McGavin!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cormier looks to land a left hand but McGavin moved out of range nicely.
A punch combination from Cormier misses.
The fighters circle momentarily. Cormier darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Cormier lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McGavin circles away quickly and effectively.
Cormier lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
McGavin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McGavin throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McGavin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Cormier moves into the clinch.
A shot in the inside from Cormier.

Cormier escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cormier throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A head kick by Cormier misses
and McGavin counters with a nice uppercut.
McGavin shoots in for a takedown but Cormier shows good takedown defense.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A big left from Cormier misses.
McGavin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McGavin misses with a two punch combination.
McGavin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cormier swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cormier throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McGavin counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cormier's knee momentarily.
Cormier swats away the attempt to clinch by McGavin.
McGavin is looking to chop away at Cormier's legs.
Cormier ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nice jab there from Cormier.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cormier instigates a clinch.
Cormier is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Cormier's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cormier lands a nice leg kick that just misses McGavin's sensitive parts.
Some wild striking there from Cormier.
McGavin avoids the body shot from Cormier.
Cormier connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
McGavin tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Cormier counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
McGavin tries to pull guard but Cormier holds him up against the cage and eventually McGavin drops back down to his feet.
A frustrated look appears on Cormier's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Cormier breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Cormier pushes McGavin up against the cage in a clinch.
Cormier tries to break free but McGavin pushes him back against the cage.

Cormier manages to break the clinch.
Cormier avoids the head kick by McGavin.
Good standup being displayed there by Cormier as he connects with a hook.
Cormier wants to clinch up but McGavin keeps it at a distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cormier blocks the body kick.
McGavin misses with a head kick.
McGavin looks gassed!
McGavin closes the distance looking to clinch
and Cormier counters with a low kick, right behind McGavin 's knee.

Cormier drops McGavin with a beautiful combination! McGavin stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Cormier is looking for the KO!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cormier throws a leg kick
and McGavin counters with a nice leg kick.
Cormier connects with a combination that backs up McGavin into the cage. Cormier lands a flurry of punches that gets past McGavin's guard. McGavin is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Cormier bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Corey Cormier!
