PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Judge Striker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aaron Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Judge Striker!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Striker doesn't manage to clinch there - Sanchez circles away.
Sanchez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Striker's waist but Striker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sanchez off to one side.
No luck for Sanchez with that takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Striker as Sanchez shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Striker misses with a low kick as Sanchez jumps back.
Striker throws a head kick but Sanchez moves out of range.
Sanchez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sanchez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown but Striker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sanchez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Striker decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Sanchez regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Striker.
Striker wanted to stand there but Sanchez had control of the position.
Sanchez is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Striker wants to stand and escape but instead Sanchez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Striker wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sanchez manages to pass to side control.
Striker is looking to escape.
Sanchez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Striker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanchez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sanchez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Striker can do anything to dispel that myth.
Striker is trying to stand.

Sanchez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Sanchez is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Sanchez stops Striker from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sanchez has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Striker somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

Aaron Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Striker counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Striker.
Sanchez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sanchez wants to sweep here but Striker controlling him for the moment.
Striker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sanchez trying to keep a closed guard but Striker is proving a slippery customer.
Striker has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sanchez is proving hard to escape from.
Striker throws a strike but Sanchez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Sanchez trying to control but Striker is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez thows a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Sanchez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sanchez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Striker working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sanchez.
Sanchez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Striker is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Sanchez passes Striker's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Striker is trying to stand up here but Sanchez is controlling him well.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Sanchez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Striker to score an easy takedown into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Judge Striker dominated that round.

Striker darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Sanchez makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Striker shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Striker seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Sanchez blocking the ground and pound attempt from Striker.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Striker wants to pass to mount but Sanchez is defending the position.

Striker wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Sanchez's closed guard. He's half up but Sanchez has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Sanchez pivots and extends the arm, Striker falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Sanchez! Well done that man!
