PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between G Kar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duane Bobbick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kar comes to the cage accompanied by Feed the Fire. Bobbick comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Indestructable kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, G Kar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duane Bobbick!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bobbick misses with an uppercut
and Kar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Donk. Bobbick catches Kar right on the button with a cross.

Kar shoots in and gets a takedown into Bobbick's guard.

Bobbick scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Kar fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bobbick.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Bobbick throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kar counters with an outside leg kick.
Kar is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kar tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bobbick paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kar dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A solid leg kick lands there for Kar.
Bobbick misses with a hook
and Kar finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Kar throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bobbick counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bobbick lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kar circles away quickly and effectively.
Kar avoids the body shot from Bobbick.

Kar has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kar throws a knee to the head but misses.
Bobbick blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Kar throws an elbow but it's blocked.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Kar.
Kar misses with a knee strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bobbick tries to circle away but Kar has him pinned against the cage.
Bobbick has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Bobbick manages to break the clinch.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bobbick crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kar - the referee stops the clock and Bobbick gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kar. Bobbick manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bobbick enables Kar to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bobbick manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bobbick works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kar sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bobbick's guard.

Bobbick wants to get back to his feet.
Kar not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Kar misses with a head shot. Bobbick uses the momentum to regain guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kar in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Bobbick wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kar manages to pass to side control.
Kar is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

G Kar dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Good leg kick by Kar there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Kar counters with a shoot takedown. Bobbick fights it but they end up in guard.

Kar drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bobbick dives on top into guard.

Kar seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bobbick's guard.

Bobbick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kar tries to free his leg and advance position but Bobbick is retaining full guard.

G Kar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kar.
Bobbick throws a poor cross that misses
and Kar counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Bobbick is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Kar counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

G Kar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Kar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kar seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bobbick for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bobbick wants to stand and escape but Kar is having none of it.
Duane Bobbick has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

G Kar has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

G Kar showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kar has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
