The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith drives through with a takedown into guard.
Smith postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Campana not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Campana really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Campana is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Campana manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Campana's guard.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Campana swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Campana wants to stand and escape but Smith is having none of it.
Smith is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Roland Smith.

Dino Campana is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Campana can do anything to dispel that myth.

Smith remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Smith has control of Campana's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Campana regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Campana avoids it really well and circles away.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Campana sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Smith is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Campana's shoulder. That is not cool.
