PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Beam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Chapman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beam comes to the cage accompanied by The Gambler. On his way into the cage it seems that Jim Beam has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jim Beam seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Beam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jonny Chapman!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beam on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Chapman fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Chapman misses with a jab, cross combination.
Chapman looks to land a combination but Beam avoids it well.
Chapman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Beam.
Chapman misses with the combination.
Chapman tries to bum rush Beam with a series of wild strikes but Beam uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Beam shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chapman defends it nicely.
Beam shoots in but Chapman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Beam. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Beam has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Beam there as he acknowledges the shot.
Beam tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chapman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Beam somewhat.
Chapman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Beam moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Beam fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chapman avoids it really well and circles away.

It looks like Jim Beam has been cut.

Chapman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Beam will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Beam postures up in Chapman's guard and throws a big left but Chapman blocks it.

Chapman manages to get back to half guard.

Chapman is refusing to be controlled, as Beam sits in half guard.
Beam is breathing heavily.
The fighters are battling for position here. Chapman manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Chapman keeping moving, preventing Beam from controlling successfully.

Chapman looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Chapman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Beam drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chapman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Beam has Chapman in his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Beam is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Chapman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Chapman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Chapman drops back, looking for a kneebar! Beam looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Beam looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Beam!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Beam thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Beam wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Chapman, who protects the arm well.
Chapman is pushing Beam's head away, looking to escape. Beam manages to hold on to the position though.
Chapman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Beam wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Chapman is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Beam's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Beam shoots in for a double leg but Chapman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Beam shoots in looking for a takedown but Chapman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Beam's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Chapman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Beam manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Beam shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Beam slips a jab and a cross from Chapman.

Chapman throws a series of punches but Beam avoids them all with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chapman throws a right and a left that both miss.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Beam bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Chapman regains half guard.

Chapman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Beam pulls his head out easily.

Beam is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Beam really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Beam is posturing up here but Chapman has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Beam tries to roll out but it's too tight and Beam has to tap! Slick submission there by Chapman!
