The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petrosyan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nguyen has him pressed against the cage.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Petrosyan, as that shot connected.

Nguyen gets tackled into the cage by Petrosyan. Petrosyan maintains the clinch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Petrosyan dives in and grabs Nguyen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nguyen pushes down on Petrosyan's head and hops out.

and Petrosyan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Petrosyan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nguyen defends it well.
Petrosyan wants to work for an arm triangle but Nguyen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Petrosyan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Petrosyan is working for a kimura but Nguyen is defending it quite comfortably.
Petrosyan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nguyen is just riding it out for now. Petrosyan eventually gives up the hold.
Nguyen scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Petrosyan manages to mount him!

Petrosyan jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Nguyen is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Nguyen and Petrosyan has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petrosyan is trying to get an arm triangle but Nguyen is defending well.
Petrosyan has hold of Nguyen's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Nguyen tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Petrosyan cranks the arm and Nguyen screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Nguyen, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
