Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wilfred Apae (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kai Allard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kai Allard is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Apae misses

and Allard counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Apae keeping moving, preventing Allard from controlling successfully.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Apae holds on and takes a little breather.
Apae has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Allard has passed into side control.
Allard tries to move into full mount but can't pass Apae's legs.
Apae is looking to regain half guard here but Allard keeps moving and retains side control.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Allard in particular looking to stall.

Allard wants to stand up but Apae has a hold of him and won't allow it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kai Allard wasn't active enough on the ground.

Allard lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Apae closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

and Allard connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Allard lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Allard is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Allard feints a jab promting Apae to slip. Allard then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Apae slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
