Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Kalir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pedro Romero is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pedro Romero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Kalir!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Romero gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kalir to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kalir trying to control but Romero is working from the bottom.

Romero is looking for a triangle but Kalir pushes his legs off easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Romero is on top in guard.
Kalir working a defensive guard here.
Kalir wants to get back to his feet but Romero passes into half guard.
Romero tries to pass to full mount but Kalir defends it.
Kalir trying to hold on to Romero's head to control him but Romero postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Romero takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kalir is trying to control but Romero passes into side control!

Romero is looking to take a break and control but Kalir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Romero misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Kalir dodges the ground and pound from Romero.

Kalir explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Romero closes the distance and pushes Kalir back into the cage.
Kalir misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Romero's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kalir takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Romero throws out a loose jab but Kalir uses good head movement to avoid it.
Romero misses with a series of wild punches.
Kalir doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Romero counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Romero shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Kalir shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Romero napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kalir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Romero keeps working.
Romero gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Romero makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Romero.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Romero bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kalir's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Romero won't allow Kalir to get back to his feet.
Romero preventing the sweep.
Romero tries to free his leg and advance position but Kalir is retaining full guard.
Kalir can't keep his opponent in guard - Romero advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Romero is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Kalir pushes Romero off looking to stand but Romero dives back in and keeps control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

You can see the frustration on Kalir's face as Romero controls the position.

Romero wants to control but Kalir is keeping him busy.
Kalir is pushing Romero's head away, looking to escape. Romero manages to hold on to the position though.
Kalir is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Romero is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Kalir is in a horrible position here. Romero smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Romero is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Romero tries to control but Kalir wriggling away.
Romero cracks Kalir with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!



Romero fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kalir, pushing him back against the cage.

Romero breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kalir drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Romero looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kalir is one step ahead there.
Romero wants to get back to his feet but Kalir is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kalir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Romero swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kalir is looking to stand up but Romero won't let him.

Kalir postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Romero is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kalir, into his guard.
Romero thows a big elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Romero looking to pass the guard.
Kalir is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Romero content to stall in guard here.
Kalir tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kalir trying to keep a closed guard but Romero is proving a slippery customer.
Kalir lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Romero!
Romero keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kalir wants to take Romero's back but he can't do it this time.
Romero is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Kalir goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Romero is on top in guard.

Romero stays in close to Kalir's body and controls the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kalir keeping moving, preventing Romero from controlling successfully.
Romero won't allow Kalir to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Romero keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kalir's head.

Kalir looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kalir wants to sweep but no luck.
Kalir is breathing heavily.
Romero wants to control from the top but Kalir keeps moving.
Kalir looking for a sweep. Not yet Kalir, not yet.

Romero drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Romero jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kalir throws his legs up looking for a submission but Romero uses it to pass to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Romero working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Romero wants to control but Kalir is keeping him busy.
Romero tries to move into full mount but can't pass Kalir's legs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kalir manages to work his way to half guard, despite Romero's best efforts.
Kalir is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pedro Romero will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Romero takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Kalir moves away from the strike by Romero.
Danga de danga de dang - Romero scores with a four punch combination!
Romero throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Romero misses with a wild body shot.

and Kalir counters with a nice double leg into side control. Romero won't be happy with that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kalir is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Romero is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Kalir throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Romero works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Romero regains full guard. Nicely done.
Kalir is looking to advance position but Romero has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Kalir tries to hold on but Romero pushes him away.
Kalir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kalir is squirming around, avoiding Romero's attempts to control the action.
Romero landing strikes, looking to finish!
Kalir is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Romero looking to control but Kalir is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Pedro Romero overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Romero lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Romero is in the full mount, landing strikes.


Kalir is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kalir has left one of his arms exposed and Romero doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Kalir screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Pedro Romero!
