Hughes is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Macho Man by the Village People. Glenn Hughes will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Glenn Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a body shot

and Hughes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Smith's guard.
Smith wants to stand up but Hughes is controlling him.
Hughes engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Smith working a defensive guard but Hughes passes into half guard.

Hughes postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Smith to stand up.
Smith falls off balance throwing a combination

and Hughes counters with a shoot takedown. Smith fights it but they end up in guard.
Smith wants to stand but Hughes is controlling the position.

Hughes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hughes stands up and waves to Smith to follow him.
Smith throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Hughes counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Smith!

Let's hope that Hughes has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Glenn Hughes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Hughes lands an elbow that stopped Smith in his tracks for a moment.
Hughes working the clinch nicely. Smith is working for position but Hughes cracks him with a big knee to the head! Smith crumples up against the cage and Hughes lands two more shots before the ref can save Smith! This one is all over!
