Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brock Michaels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kayden Fletcher!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Michaels or perhaps it was just good defense by Fletcher which made him look bad.
Michaels feints a jab promting Fletcher to slip. Michaels then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Fletcher slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Nice defenses there by Michaels.
Fletcher missing with a left hand there. Michaels was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Michaels gets a clinch.
Michaels drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Michaels is trying to drag Fletcher to the mat but Fletcher just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brock Michaels. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Michaels is working for takedown but Fletcher is calmly controlling the position for now.
Fletcher is looking to control Michaels's arms but Michaels gets an underhook and turns him. Now Fletcher has his back to the cage.
Michaels is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Fletcher pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Michaels has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Fletcher avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Fletcher looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Fletcher lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Michaels or not.

Fletcher breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Michaels counters with a good low kick that Fletcher was not able to check.

Michaels shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Michaels was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fletcher can do anything to dispel that myth.
Michaels misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Fletcher tries to hold on but Michaels postures up.
Michaels takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Michaels has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Brock Michaels.
Michaels moves in looking to clinch but Fletcher pushes him off.
Michaels changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Michaels slips a straight right by Fletcher.
Michaels throws a head kick but Fletcher moves out of range.

Michaels feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Michaels is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Fletcher wants to stand and escape but Michaels is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Michaels's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Michaels fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Fletcher.

Kayden Fletcher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Fletcher. No joy for Michaels on that attempt.

and Michaels counters with a nice low kick that buckles Fletcher's knee momentarily.
Michaels throws a right and a left that both miss.
Michaels shoots in looking for a takedown but Fletcher manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Michaels's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Michaels steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Fletcher.

Michaels's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Michaels not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Fletcher is trying to control but can't.

Brock Michaels has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Michaels lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Michaels.

Michaels ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Michaels closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fletcher quickly recovers to half guard.

Michaels is taking a breather. Fletcher says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Michaels seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fletcher for as long as he can get away with.
Fletcher tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fletcher tries to lock up and control but Michaels gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Kayden Fletcher has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Michaels is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Fletcher can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Brock Michaels is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Michaels prevents Fletcher from getting the reversal.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Brock Michaels showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Michaels, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
