PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Ang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jukka Poika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poika is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Collie Buddz - Mary Jane. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poika fails with the takedown.

Poika closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Ang wants to get back to his feet.
Ang tries to roll over but Poika keeps him under control.
Ang is trying to stand.

Poika looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poika prevents Ang from improving his position.

Ang is looking to escape.
Ang won't allow Poika to pass to mount.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Poika lands a glancing blow to the side of Ang's head.
Lyoto Ang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Poika drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ang tries to buck Poika off but Poika is having none of it.

Poika is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ang has escaped the position, nice work there.
Poika looks gassed!
Ang is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Poika has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Poika tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Poika decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ang throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ang tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Poika paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ang shoots in for a takedown but Poika shows good takedown defense.
Ang tries to clinch there but Poika circles away.
Poika shoots in but Ang avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Poika tries to keep at a distance but Ang has taken the fight into the clinch.
A knee to the head by Ang.

Ang misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Poika.

Poika letting Ang take a breather here.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Ang tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Poika just misses with a elbow thrown towards Ang's brow.
Ang changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Poika fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Poika fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ang is looking to land body kicks.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ang, right into the meat.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
and Poika counters by moving into the clinch.
Ang has Poika pressed against the cage.
Poika takes an elbow to the temple.
Poika keeps control of Ang as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Poika lands an elbow inside that Ang shrugs off.
Poika blocks the elbow strike.
Ang fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ang takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Poika blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Poika wants a takedown but no success here.
Lyoto Ang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jukka Poika.
Ang misses with a knee to the head.
Ang tries a knee to the head but Poika blocks it.
Poika tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Ang misses with the head strike.
Ang throws a knee to the head but misses.
Ang landing knees to the head.
Poika wants to stall.
Ang crunches a lovely knee into Poika's ribcage.

Poika breaks the clinch.
Ang is looking to clinch but Poika is avoiding it.
Ang drops his hands momentarily and Poika takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Ang tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Poika paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ang closes the distance and clinches.
Ang prevents Poika from breaking the clinch.
Poika goes for a takedown attempt but Ang pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A clash of legs there as Poika blocks the low kick.
Poika has his takedown stuffed

and Ang counters by clinching up.
Poika on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Ang manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jukka Poika will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Left hook, right uppercut from Poika.
Poika fails with an attempt to clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Poika.
Ang misses with a double jab

so Poika counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Poika stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ang swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Poika trying to control but Ang is working from the bottom.
Ang is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ang trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Ang is looking to stand up but Poika isn't so interested in that idea.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Poika drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ang manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Poika has Ang in his guard.

Ang trying to stand up but can't free himself from Poika's guard.
Ang stays in close to Poika's body and controls the position.

Poika looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ang prevents Poika from getting back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Poika has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ang should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Poika has tightened it up now! Ang should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
