Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tim Gumbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryoto Macheeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gumbo comes into the arena with Defeatist blaring out of the sound system. Ryoto Macheeda told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gumbo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Macheeda is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gumbo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gumbo shoots in and drives through. Macheeda sprawls well.
Gumbo wants to clinch but Macheeda slips to the side
and Macheeda counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Gumbo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Gumbo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Tim Gumbo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Macheeda on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Macheeda is trying to get back to half guard.
Gumbo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Macheeda is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Macheeda wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Gumbo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Macheeda has escaped the position, nice work there.
Gumbo trying to control the action but Macheeda is working from the bottom.
Macheeda is letting Gumbo control him for a moment.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gumbo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Gumbo creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Gumbo has an Americana. Macheeda didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Gumbo is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Gumbo hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Tim Gumbo!
