The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayfield moves forwards but Davis connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mayfield throws a body punch but Davis moves out of range.
Davis misses with an uppercut.

Mayfield shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Davis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Mayfield sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Davis's guard.
Davis is looking to escape.
Mayfield frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Davis defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mayfield.
Mayfield controlling the position easily from mount.
You get the feeling that Davis really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Mayfield working for a submission but Davis is keeping him at bay.

Davis is squirming around, avoiding Mayfield's attempts to control the action.
Mayfield is really struggling to control Davis but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Mayfield working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Davis turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Mayfield off and cradles Davis's limp body as Mayfield celebrates with his corner.
