PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Boy Puti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Palakiko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palakiko has chosen The Wave as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Boy Puti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Palakiko!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palakiko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Puti circles away.
Palakiko tries to clinch there but Puti circles away.
Puti throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Horrible takedown by Puti or perhaps it was just good defense by Palakiko which made him look bad.

Puti closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Palakiko manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Palakiko will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Palakiko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Puti doesn't manage to clinch there - Palakiko circles away.
Puti throws a right and a left that Palakiko avoids nicely.
Puti looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Good exchange - Palakiko coming out on top.

The fight stays on the outside here - Palakiko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Palakiko rushes Puti and presses him up against the cage.

Puti seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Palakiko does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Palakiko throws a nice looking combination but Puti bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Puti is not content to let Palakiko control the position.

Palakiko seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Puti is looking to control Palakiko's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Puti avoid being mounted?

Palakiko tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Palakiko has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Puti is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Puti managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Palakiko.
The strikes coming from Palakiko are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Boy Puti will probably get the nod.
That's time! Puti's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Puti looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Palakiko!
Palakiko is desperately trying to improve his position but Puti has a good base and remains in mount.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Puti lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Boy Puti overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Puti trying to control but Palakiko is having none of it.
Puti won't let Palakiko get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Puti pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Puti wants to control the pace but Palakiko is squirming around nicely.
BOOM! Puti connects with a massive shot to the dome!

And that's the end of the fight!
Boy Puti showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Puti has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
