PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Filipe Nunes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinicius Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carvalho has chosen When We Ride as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalho throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nunes's waist but Nunes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carvalho off to one side.
Carvalho shoots in but no luck this time.
Nunes on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Carvalho tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nunes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carvalho somewhat.
Filipe Nunes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vinicius Carvalho.
Nunes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carvalho but Carvalho pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Carvalho is looking to clinch.

Nunes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Carvalho controls Nunes momentarily but Nunes frees himself.
Carvalho is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Nunes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nunes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nunes wants to pass the guard but Carvalho is keeping the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Nunes's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Nunes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nunes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carvalho swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nunes has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Carvalho to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Nunes is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Carvalho pulls down on the head and he's put Nunes to sleep! This one is all over!
