The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel throws an overhand right that lands on Gautier's shoulder, as Gautier tries to avoid the shot.
Gautier swinging wildly here.
Gautier scores with a jab to the body.
Steel avoids the body shot from Gautier.
Steel misses with a few strikes there.
Gautier misses the jab.
A big left from Steel misses.
A swing and a miss from Gautier.
Gautier takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Sloppy strikes from Gautier. Those never looked like landing.
Steel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gautier was well out of range. Poor timing from Steel.
Steel falls off balance throwing a combination
and Gautier cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Steel takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Gautier throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gautier misses with a double jab.
Gautier jabs Steel to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Gautier fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gautier takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Gautier throws a jab but it's blocked by Steel.
Steel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gautier.
Gautier connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Gautier avoids a punch combination nicely.
Steel misses with a looping left.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gautier throws out a loose jab but Steel uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gautier looks to score with a jab to the body but Steel is just out of range.
Steel misses with a few strikes there.
Steel pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Gautier back to the cage. Steel follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Gautier throws a big shot that misses.
No joy there for Steel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Steel throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Gautier counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
John Steel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gautier connects with a body shot that sends Steel's belly button to the back.
Steel misses with a left hand
and Gautier connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gautier takes a swing at Steel's ribcage but misses.
Gautier avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gautier throws a body punch but Steel moves out of range.
Gautier lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Gautier.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gautier dips to his left and cracks Steel with an uppercut!
Steel throws a combination that misses
and Steel takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Steel tries to bum rush Gautier with a series of wild strikes but Gautier uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Steel misses with a double jab
and Gautier counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Steel misses the body punch
and Gautier makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Steel looks gassed!
A decent looking cross lands there for Gautier.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Steel takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Steel moves out of range as Gautier strikes.

Gautier lands a left and a right that send Steel crashing to the mat, dazed. Gautier thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Steel is rocked!

It looks like John Steel has been cut.
Gautier walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Steel drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Gautier swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Steel's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
