PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sanius Viver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kuba Majewski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sanius Viver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kuba Majewski!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Majewski throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Viver shoots in and drives through. Majewski sprawls well.

Majewski feints and as Viver raises his hands in defense, Majewski changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Majewski trying to control but Viver is working from the bottom.
Majewski is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Majewski decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Majewski throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Viver stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Majewski follows into mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Majewski stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Majewski throws a head kick that misses.
Majewski throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Viver blocks a head kick by Majewski.
Viver throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Viver really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Majewski gets the takedown into side control.

Majewski is trying to get an arm triangle but Viver is defending well.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Viver is trying to get back to his feet.

Viver tries to buck Majewski off but Majewski is having none of it.

Majewski decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Viver looks to land a right hand but Majewski moved out of range.
Majewski tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Viver closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Majewski is looking to reverse the position.
Majewski is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Viver is controlling him well.

Majewski regains half guard.
Majewski is looking for a sweep. Viver is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Majewski has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Viver is working away from the top position though.
Majewski is looking to improve his position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Viver looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Majewski is trying to stand up here but Viver is controlling him well.
Majewski has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Viver is working away from the top position though.

Majewski manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Majewski lands a front kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Majewski throws a push kick but Viver slaps the foot to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kuba Majewski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Viver shoots in but no luck this time.
Viver blocks a head kick by Majewski.
Majewski looks to throw the jab but Viver is out of range.

Majewski shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Majewski showed some decent athleticism there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Viver shoots and misses

and Majewski counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Viver's guard now.

Viver is working an open guard so Majewski takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Viver takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Majewski connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Majewski closes the distance and clinches.
Viver prevents a takedown attempt there.
Majewski drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Viver tries to circle away but Majewski has him pinned against the cage.

Viver has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Majewski is pulling down on Viver's head to control his posture.

Kuba Majewski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Majewski pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Majewski is looking to slow Viver down with leg kicks.
Sanius Viver is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Viver tries for a takedown but Majewski circles away easily

Majewski decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Majewski changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Majewski throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Viver tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Majewski is in Viver's guard.
Majewski is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Viver will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Majewski stands up from Viver's guard - Majewski perhaps looking for a knockout.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Majewski doesn't manage to clinch there - Viver circles away.
Majewski throws a head kick that misses
and Viver connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Majewski throws a head kick but Viver moves out of range.
Majewski is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sloppy strikes from Viver. Those never looked like landing.

Majewski changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Viver looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Majewski decides to stand up, so the ref orders Viver to his feet.
Viver shoots in for a takedown but Majewski shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sanius Viver. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Majewski throws a sloppy head kick
and Viver makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Majewski really felt that one!

Viver takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Majewski tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Kuba Majewski is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Viver looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Majewski is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Viver gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Viver has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Viver is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Sanius Viver has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Majewski has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Viver is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Majewski has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Majewski tries to pull guard but Viver holds him up against the cage and eventually Majewski drops back down to his feet.
Majewski keeps control of Viver as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Viver wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Majewski has him pressed against the cage.
Viver is trying to force a seperation but Majewski has the dominant position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kuba Majewski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Majewski has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
