Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Marston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Apollo Olympus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for John Marston has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Marston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Apollo Olympus!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olympus fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
John Marston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Olympus shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Marston pinned against the cage. Marston gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Marston gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Olympus gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Marston.
Marston is pressed up against the cage. Olympus has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Marston down to the mat. Marston avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
John Marston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Apollo Olympus.
Marston connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Olympus tries to clinch up

and Marston counters with a nice double leg into side control. Olympus won't be happy with that.

Marston wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Olympus, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marston throws a strike aimed at the side of Olympus's head but Olympus avoids it well.

Marston tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Marston has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Olympus is looking to reverse the position.
Marston is looking to take a break and control but Olympus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Olympus wants to control but Marston postures up.

Marston tries for a kimura but Olympus is defending well.

Marston thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Olympus is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Marston has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Marston in side control lands a decent elbow.

Marston is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Olympus knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Olympus can't do much from the bottom here.
Olympus is trying to get back to half guard.
Olympus pushes Marston away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Marston gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Olympus is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Marston is controlling him well.

Marston is putting a hurting on Olympus here, landing some big shots from side control.
Olympus wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Olympus pulls Marston in close to his closed guard and prevents Marston from doing any damage or advancing position.

Marston drops back, looking for a kneebar! Olympus looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Olympus looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Olympus!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Apollo Olympus wasn't active enough on the ground.

Marston closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Olympus quickly recovers to half guard.

Marston moves into full mount! Olympus won't be happy about that!

Marston is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Olympus to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Olympus shrugs it off.

A close second round but Apollo Olympus will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Olympus has one foot on Marston's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Marston is not content to let Olympus control the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Olympus works to advance to full mount. Marston defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Olympus trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Marston manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Olympus is thwarting Marston's attempts to control the position.
Olympus wants to pass the guard but Marston is defending well.
Olympus is keen to just control but Marston is a slippery customer.

Marston is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Olympus's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Olympus's back!
Marston doesn't have the hooks in and Olympus manages to turn into his guard.
Olympus trying to control the position from guard on top but Marston is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Olympus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Olympus got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marston has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Olympus has managed to get both his arms back between Marston's legs - danger averted.

Apollo Olympus comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Olympus has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
