PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between lamb chops (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fortune Cookie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cookie comes into a darkened arena with his song building. c is for cookie kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, lamb chops!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fortune Cookie!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cookie moves into the clinch.
chops wants a takedown but no success here.
chops tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Cookie is working chops over against the cage.
Cookie pushes chops back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
chops jumps guard but Cookie stands there with chops around his waist. chops gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for lamb chops. That's going to take a lot out of him.
chops is looking to control Cookie's arms but Cookie gets an underhook and turns him. Now chops has his back to the cage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Cookie.
chops tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Cookie lands a body shot in the clinch.

Cookie breaks the clinch.
chops gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Cookie counters with a leg kick.
chops tries for a takedown but Cookie circles away easily
and Cookie makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
lamb chops seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cookie gets a clinch.
chops really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cookie lands a body shot.
Cookie prevents the takedown attempt.

chops tries to pull guard but Cookie won't allow it.
Cookie presses chops against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Cookie lands a right hand.
chops wants a takedown.
Cookie stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
chops is breathing heavily.
Cookie digs a right hand into chops's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on chops's gas tank.
Cookie dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
A left hand lands to the body for Cookie.
Cookie lands with a light punch inside.

Cookie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cookie scores with a sloppy right hand. chops should have avoided that one.
chops has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
No joy there for Cookie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Cookie gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Cookie lands a body shot in the clinch.

chops tries for a takedown but Cookie manages to get underhooks.
chops jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Cookie walks away with a smile on his face. chops gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Cookie counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cookie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cookie throws a left and a right that both miss

and chops counters with a takedown into side control.
chops throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Cookie works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
chops trying to pass the guard but Cookie defending well.
Cookie keeping control of the position.
chops is trying to control. Cookie wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

chops missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
chops trying to mount his opponent but Cookie defends it.
chops wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cookie keeps working.

chops is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cookie has managed to free his arm - good work.
Cookie wants to get back to his feet.
Cookie avoiding damage under a succession of punches from chops.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cookie manages to get to full guard.
Cookie being controlled here, momentarily.
chops lands a couple of digs.
chops postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
chops won't allow Cookie to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cookie keeping moving, preventing chops from controlling successfully.
chops thows a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fortune Cookie dominated that round.
That's time! chops's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



chops closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
chops trying to control the position but Cookie is working away.
chops throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Cookie holding on.
chops looks up at the clock and then as Cookie takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, chops smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

chops is trying to get an arm triangle but Cookie is defending well.
chops has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cookie managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by chops.

chops moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

chops wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cookie, who protects the arm well.
Cookie is trying to improve his position.
chops wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cookie keeps working.

chops goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cookie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in chops's guard! Nice work there by Cookie!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
chops looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cookie is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cookie got a little sloppy there for a moment and chops has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cookie has managed to get both his arms back between chops's legs - danger averted.
Cookie has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of chops is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
chops is trying to keep Cookie in close.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
chops manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cookie manages to get himself to full guard.
chops sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cookie's guard.

chops is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
chops wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cookie keeps working.
chops thows a huge punch but Cookie dodges it nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
chops trying to mount his opponent but Cookie defends it.

Cookie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with chops. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

chops is trying to work for a kimura but Cookie is defending well.
Cookie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of chops's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take chops's back!
chops is trying to break free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
chops trying to control but not successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

and Cookie counters with a right hand to the body.

chops tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cookie knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

chops thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

chops content to control rather than advance.

chops looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cookie keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

chops not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Cookie is staying active underneath chops, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
chops looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
chops thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cookie's head.
chops is keen to just control but Cookie is a slippery customer.

chops is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cookie has managed to free his arm - good work.
Cookie tries to get to full guard but chops has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
chops with the ground and pound but Cookie uses the opportunity to regain guard.
chops trying to control the position from guard on top but Cookie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
chops tries to free his leg and advance position but Cookie is retaining full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
chops trying to control but Cookie is working from the bottom.

chops drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cookie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now chops has Cookie in his guard.

chops is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cookie defends well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

chops has his foot on Cookie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cookie works his way back into a safe position though.
Cookie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. chops is keeping the position for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cookie decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on chops, up you get!

And that's the end of the fight!
lamb chops showed his dominance in that final round.
I think chops has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
