Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trevor Hastings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crusher Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trevor Hastings!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Crusher Jones!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Hastings sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hastings throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely.
Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hastings throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hastings shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.
Trevor Hastings seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hastings gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jones counters with a solid body kick.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
Trevor Hastings has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crusher Jones.
Hastings keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hastings is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hastings escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hastings fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hastings throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

and Hastings counters with a stiff right hand.
Hastings goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Hastings changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Hastings sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

so Hastings counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hastings manages to get himself to full guard.

Jones might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hastings kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Hastings seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jones is looking to control Hastings's arms but Hastings gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jones has his back to the cage.
Jones has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hastings avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Hastings is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hastings has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Jones's body.

Hastings is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Jones with him. Jones is trying to defend but Hastings has an arm under the chin now! Jones grimaces and is forced to tap out!
