PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Kazansky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riley Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kazansky kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Danger Zone. Riley Freeman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Kazansky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Riley Freeman!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kazansky tries a head kick but it misses.
Tom Kazansky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Freeman tries to close the distance and clinch but Kazansky swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Kazansky shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kazansky is looking to work some ground and pound but Freeman has wrist control.
Kazansky throwing strikes but missing.

Freeman is pulling down on Kazansky's head. It's preventing any offense from Kazansky, at least for the moment.

Freeman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kazansky sprawls well. Kazansky wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Freeman gets slowly back to his feet.
Kazansky shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Freeman pinned against the cage. Freeman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Freeman tries for a takedown but Kazansky sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Freeman shoots for a double leg takedown but Kazansky sprawls well. He's pushed Freeman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Tom Kazansky has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Riley Freeman.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Freeman has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Kazansky has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.

Freeman is persistently looking for the submission but Kazansky is defending it well.
Kazansky has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kazansky is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Freeman.
Freeman punches the canvas rather than the man.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Freeman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kazansky sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Riley Freeman dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Freeman moves into the clinch.
Kazansky jumps guard but Freeman stands there with Kazansky around his waist. Kazansky gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kazansky blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Freeman gets control of Kazansky's arms and successfully pulls guard. Freeman will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Kazansky decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Freeman misses with a takedown

and Kazansky counters by clinching up.
Kazansky jumps guard but Freeman stands there with Kazansky around his waist. Kazansky gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kazansky tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Freeman just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Kazansky. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kazansky fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kazansky is pressed up against the cage. Freeman has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kazansky down to the mat. Kazansky avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Kazansky shoots in but no luck this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Freeman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kazansky sprawls well initially but Freeman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Freeman is taking a breather. Kazansky says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Kazansky is trying to stand.
Freeman is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Freeman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Freeman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kazansky. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Freeman tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kazansky knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kazansky is desperately trying to improve his position but Freeman has a good base and remains in mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Freeman stands up from mount. Strange move.

Freeman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kazansky uses from the top position.

Riley Freeman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Freeman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kazansky tries to avoid it but Freeman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kazansky to the ground. Kazansky escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kazansky swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Kazansky is squirming around, avoiding Freeman's attempts to control the action.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Riley Freeman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Freeman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
