Cross's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The American Dream Song. Joe Boxer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Cross!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Boxer!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Columbo Gatti and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cross moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
David Cross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cross keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Boxer falls off balance throwing a combination
and Cross counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A combination from Boxer does no damage.
Boxer throws a leg kick
and Cross connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cross dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Cross tries to bum rush Boxer with a series of wild strikes but Boxer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Boxer shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Cross scores with a sloppy right hand. Boxer should have avoided that one.

Cross slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

and Cross counters with a thumping low kick.
Cross connects with a good right hand that stumbles Boxer. Boxer circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Cross swings for the body but Boxer moves out of range.
Boxer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cross gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Joe Boxer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cross will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cross drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Cross is looking for a kimura but Boxer is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cross to get the leverage.

Boxer has momentary wrist control but Cross slips an elbow through the middle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cross wants to pass the guard but Boxer is keeping the position.

Boxer has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Boxer there as he acknowledges the shot.

Boxer throws a solid leg kick but Cross takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Boxer.
Cross throws a body punch but Boxer moves out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Boxer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cross.

Cross lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Boxer is still on wobbly legs! Can Cross finish him?
That kick from Cross tenderised Boxer's leg. Boxer is trying to keep his angry face on.
Boxer seems to have recovered his senses.
Cross paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Oooh a lovely combination from Cross sends Boxer down but not out. Cross dives into side control looking to finish.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cross is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Boxer can do to turn this around?
