Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sonny Ramires (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Daaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramires's entrance music is Fly Me To The Moon - By Frank Sinatra. A fine choice. Daaz has chosen Meshuggah - Mind's Mirror as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sonny Ramires!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick Daaz!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daaz tries to sprawl but Ramires drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Daaz tries to get to full guard but Ramires has control of the leg.

Ramires is working for a kimura but Daaz is defending it quite comfortably.
Daaz is trying to maintain the position but Ramires is very close to passing his half guard.
Daaz is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Ramires is trying to work for a kimura but Daaz is defending well.
Ramires is trying to control the action in half guard but Daaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Daaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ramires. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ramires is thwarting Daaz's attempts to control the position.

Ramires seems to be working for a kimura but Daaz defends the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Daaz wants to control but Ramires is keeping busy.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Nick Daaz wasn't active enough on the ground.
Daaz looks to land a left hand but Ramires moved out of range nicely.
A solid leg kick lands there for Ramires.
Daaz connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Daaz throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ramires will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ramires misses with a body kick.
Daaz throws a looping overhand right but Ramires ducks down to avoid it.
Ramires walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Daaz checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
A clash of legs there as Daaz blocks the low kick.
Ramires uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Daaz.
Nick Daaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Daaz moves out of range of the body kick from Ramires.
Daaz lands a jab to Ramires's midsection.

Daaz moves in looking to clinch but Ramires pushes him off.

Ramires feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Daaz wants to sweep but no luck.
Ramires trying to control the position from guard on top but Daaz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Daaz tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Ramires pushing down on Daaz's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Ramires is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Daaz wants to control but Ramires passes into side.
Ramires moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Daaz is looking for a sweep.

Ramires trying to control the position but Daaz is working away.
Daaz tries to improve position but can't.
Ramires wants to lay and pray for a moment but Daaz keeps working.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Daaz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ramires is looking to take a break and control but Daaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ramires is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Daaz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Daaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Ramires tries a low kick but Daaz avoids it.
Ramires defending well as Daaz loads up on a big left hand.

Ramires looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Daaz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ramires!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Daaz tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

Daaz stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Daaz comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
The fighters circling - Daaz throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Daaz checks a leg kick.
Daaz takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Daaz fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ramires walks into a left hand.
A head kick misses from Ramires.
Ramires tries to score a power double leg takedown but Daaz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ramires somewhat.
Daaz missing with a left hand there. Ramires was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Ramires slips under a jab from Daaz.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Daaz lands with a good body shot.
Ramires misses with a low kick as Daaz jumps back.
Daaz misses with a jab, cross combination.
Daaz misses with a wild combination.
Daaz swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ramires cracks the inside of Daaz's front leg.
Daaz checks a low kick from Ramires.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Daaz scores with a crisp jab that stopped Ramires in his tracks.
Sonny Ramires has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nice defenses there by Ramires.
Daaz stuffs the takedown attempt from Ramires. Ramires gets slowly back to his feet.
Nick Daaz seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Daaz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ramires circles away quickly and effectively.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ramires. Daaz shrugs it off though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ramires tries for a takedown but Daaz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sonny Ramires. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ramires throws a body kick that misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nick Daaz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Daaz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
