Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cody Elkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Training Partner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Elkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Training Partner!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Partner has his takedown stuffed
and Elkins counters with a single leg into guard. Partner didn't expect that.
Partner tries to strike from the bottom.
Elkins is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Partner keeping moving, preventing Elkins from controlling successfully.
Partner can't keep his opponent in guard - Elkins advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Elkins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Partner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Elkins blocks the strikes from Partner.
Partner is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Elkins jumps into side control!
Partner tries to bench press Elkins off him but Elkins keeps the position.
Elkins is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Partner is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Elkins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Partner keeps working.
Elkins takes a little break here. Partner wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

You can see the frustration on Partner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Partner throws a few strikes from the bottom but Elkins takes advantage and mounts!

Partner is squirming around, avoiding Elkins's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Elkins jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Partner manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Partner tries to bench press Elkins off him but Elkins keeps the position.

Elkins advances to mount.
Elkins trying to control but Partner is having none of it.
Partner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Elkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Partner defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Elkins.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Partner can do anything to dispel that myth.

Partner flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Elkins content just to control the position here.
Partner tries to lock up and control but Elkins gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Elkins is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Partner has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Partner wants to control but Elkins is having none of it.

Elkins pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Partner is desperately trying to improve his position but Elkins has a good base and remains in mount.

Elkins's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Elkins working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Partner looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Elkins! Submission of the night perhaps?
