Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ben Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jorge Taylor told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jorge Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Taylor defends it nicely.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Askren accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Taylor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Askren throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Taylor was covering up waiting for the punch and Askren finishes the takedown easily into guard.

A punch lands to the side of Askren 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Taylor bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Taylor uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Askren.

Askren closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Askren has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ben Askren.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Askren, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
