Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roderick Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Edwards's choice of entrance music: Tap Out. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Peters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roderick Edwards!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peters leaves Edwards with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Edwards closes the distance and clinches up with Peters, looking for a takedown. Edwards pushes Peters against the ropes but Peters circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Peters misses with a series of wild punches.
Peters lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Edwards misses with a head kick.
Edwards dives in and grabs Peters's left leg, looking for a takedown. Peters pushes down on Edwards's head and hops out.
John Peters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roderick Edwards.
Peters tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Edwards was well out of range. Poor timing from Peters.
Edwards tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Peters is able to avoid easily.

Peters throws a series of punches but Edwards moves out of range.
Peters misses with a double jab.
Edwards tries to score a power double leg takedown but Peters sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Edwards somewhat.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Peters tries to bum rush Edwards with a series of wild strikes but Edwards uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Peters lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Peters stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Peters wants it to stay on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Peters checks a leg kick.
Edwards fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Peters avoids it really well and circles away.
Peters tries to score with a low kick but Edwards moves his leg out of the way.

Peters gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Edwards to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Peters working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Edwards.
Edwards with a flurry of punches that miss.

Edwards drops back, looking for a kneebar! Peters looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Peters looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Peters!
Edwards tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Peters dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Edwards fails with the takedown.
Edwards swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Peters lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Edwards shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Peters sprawls well. Peters wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Edwards gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice uppercut there from Peters.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peters misses with the combination.

Edwards shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Edwards wants to control from the top but Peters keeps moving.
Edwards thows a big elbow that misses.
Peters wants to get back to his feet but Edwards is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Edwards drops back, looking for a kneebar! Peters looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Peters looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Peters!

Edwards is trying to control Peters's posture but Peters avoids it.

Peters tries to stand but Edwards is controlling his head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Peters will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Edwards throws a leg kick but Peters moved away.
Edwards uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Peters.
Peters lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Peters misses with the combination.
Edwards shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Peters as he avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Edwards looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Peters is fending him off so far but Edwards persists. Nope, Peters circles away and we're back to standing.

Peters throws a right and a left that both miss.
Peters checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
A clash of legs there as Edwards blocks the low kick.
Peters misses with a series of wild punches.
Peters smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Edwards shoots for a takedown but Peters saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
John Peters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roderick Edwards.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Peters fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Peters swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Edwards avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice uppercut there from Peters.
Peters on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Edwards. Edwards obviously looking to wear him down.
Edwards shoots in for a takedown but Peters shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Peters finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Edwards checks a leg kick.
No luck for Edwards with that takedown attempt.
A combination from Peters does no damage.
A low kick from Edwards is predictable there
and Peters counters with a one-two to the body.
Peters scores with a jab to the body.
Edwards shoots and misses
and Peters cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Peters lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Edwards circles away quickly and effectively.
Peters misses with a few strikes there.
Peters scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Peters lands a two punch combo.
Edwards gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Peters counters with a three punch combo that has Edwards backing up. Edwards nods at Peters to acknowledge the strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Peters counters with a right hand to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Peters showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Peters, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
