PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dragan Kovach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coleman comes to the cage accompanied by far from home-five finger death punch. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jordan Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dragan Kovach!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovach fails to land the takedown.
Coleman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Kovach shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kovach showed some decent athleticism there.
Coleman is trying to control but Kovach passes into side control!
Kovach throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Coleman is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kovach is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Coleman tries to reverse the position but Kovach maintains control.

Kovach goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Coleman is on top in guard.
Kovach is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Kovach is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Coleman is controlling him.

Kovach has his feet on Coleman's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Kovach forces Coleman back against the cage and clinches.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Coleman fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Kovach breaks the clinch.
Coleman misses with a takedown attempt

and Kovach counters by moving into the clinch.
Coleman tries to circle away but Kovach has him pinned against the cage.

Kovach gets control of Coleman's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kovach will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Coleman stands up from Kovach's guard - Coleman perhaps looking for a knockout.
Coleman throws a leg kick which misses Kovach's front leg but catches the back leg as Kovach tries to avoid it.
Jordan Coleman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Coleman pushes Kovach up against the cage in a clinch.
Coleman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kovach just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jordan Coleman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Coleman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kovach avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Kovach is looking to stand up but Coleman isn't so interested in that idea.

Kovach shoots in and bounces Coleman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Kovach gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Coleman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Coleman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Kovach shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Coleman's guard.
Coleman is looking to stand up but Kovach isn't so interested in that idea.
Kovach tries to stand but Coleman is controlling from the bottom.
Coleman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Coleman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kovach wants to control from the top but Coleman keeps moving.

Kovach gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Kovach scores with a head kick. Coleman tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Coleman tries to sprawl but Kovach drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Coleman wants to improve his position but Kovach is controlling well.

Coleman is defending against the submission attempts here by Kovach.

Kovach tries to pass the half guard into mount. Coleman knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kovach decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Jordan Coleman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kovach gets a takedown into half guard.
Coleman looks like he's trying to stand up.

Kovach is trying to work for a kimura but Coleman is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kovach working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Coleman is trying to maintain the position but Kovach is very close to passing his half guard.
Kovach winds up and cracks Coleman with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Kovach looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Coleman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Coleman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kovach is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dragan Kovach showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Kovach decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Kovach closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Kovach is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Kovach darts in and clinches Coleman up against the cage.
Kovach drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kovach breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kovach wants to control from the top but Coleman keeps moving.

Kovach stands up and waves to Coleman to follow him.

The fight stays on the outside here - Kovach looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Coleman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kovach won't be happy with that.
Kovach tries to bench press Coleman off him but Coleman keeps the position.

Kovach sneaks out the side door and pushes Coleman away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Coleman darts in trying to clinch

and Kovach counters with a nice double leg into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Coleman has a closed guard, preventing Kovach from standing up.
Kovach must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Coleman wants to stand and escape but Kovach is having none of it.

Kovach postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Coleman is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kovach, into his guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dragan Kovach comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kovach has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
