PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bob Kamikaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sigvard Aurelius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aurelius has chosen Marcia Carolus Rex as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bob Kamikaze!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sigvard Aurelius!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aurelius shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Aurelius was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Aurelius content just to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Aurelius's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Kamikaze is trying to stand.
Aurelius controlling from mount.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sigvard Aurelius was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Kamikaze ducks under a wild hook from Aurelius.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Aurelius feints and then cracks Kamikaze's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kamikaze down.
Kamikaze really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Aurelius ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Aurelius connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kamikaze tries to close the distance and clinch up but Aurelius swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Aurelius lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Aurelius moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kamikaze blocks a jab.
Kamikaze thows a body shot but no joy.
A slapping leg kick lands for Aurelius.
Bob Kamikaze is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kamikaze tries to sprawl but Aurelius drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Aurelius takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kamikaze looks like he's trying to stand up.
Aurelius stalling.
Aurelius passes to full mount!
Aurelius sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kamikaze's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aurelius looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sigvard Aurelius dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Aurelius lands a nice hook to Kamikaze's body. Kamikaze takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Aurelius throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sigvard Aurelius seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aurelius tries to bum rush Kamikaze with a series of wild strikes but Kamikaze uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kamikaze misses with a body punch
and Aurelius counters with a stiff right hand.
Aurelius connects with an inside leg kick.
Aurelius lands a jab to the head.
A combination from Aurelius does no damage.
Kamikaze lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Aurelius tries to clinch but Kamikaze moves out of range.
Aurelius thumps Kamikaze with a low kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Aurelius lunges at Kamikaze with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kamikaze's hand.
Kamikaze throws a predictable looking body shot
and Aurelius counters with a stiff right hand.
Kamikaze moves away from the strike by Aurelius.
Kamikaze ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aurelius moves away.
Aurelius scores with a nice head shot.


Kamikaze is rocked!


It looks like Bob Kamikaze has been cut.
Aurelius walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Kamikaze drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Aurelius swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Kamikaze's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sigvard Aurelius! Sigvard Aurelius retains his bantamweight title!
