PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Issac Haze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jakelius Juston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Haze might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Whatchu WANT!?. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Issac Haze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jakelius Juston!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Juston is defended easily by Haze.
Haze wants to clinch.

Juston drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Juston engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
I looks like Juston might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Juston trying to control the position from guard on top but Haze is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Juston controls from within his opponent's guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jakelius Juston wasn't active enough on the ground.
Juston shoots in looking for a takedown but Haze manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Juston's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jakelius Juston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Haze throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Juston shoots in and gets a takedown into Haze's guard.
Juston must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Juston slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Haze wants to stand and escape but Juston is having none of it.
Juston looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jakelius Juston was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Haze keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Issac Haze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jakelius Juston.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Juston changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Haze tries to avoid it but Juston manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Haze to the ground. Haze escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Haze keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Haze.
Haze is looking to slow Juston down with leg kicks.
Juston misses with a takedown attempt - Haze sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Juston closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Juston seems to be looking for submissions.
Haze is trying to stand.
Juston content to control rather than advance.
Juston stalling away here and it's allowed Haze to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Juston is breathing heavily.

Haze wants to stand up but Juston is controlling him.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Juston controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jakelius Juston was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Haze throws a series of strikes that have Juston backpedaling.
Juston swats away the attempt to clinch by Haze.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Haze stuffs the takedown.
Juston takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Juston has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Haze.
Juston doesn't manage to clinch there - Haze circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Haze throws a nice inside leg kick.
Juston tries for a takedown but Haze sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Issac Haze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jakelius Juston.
Haze connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Haze is looking to clinch but Juston is avoiding it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Issac Haze dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Haze tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Juston counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Haze wants to get back to his feet.
Juston is keen to just control but Haze is a slippery customer.
Juston takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Juston has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Haze is trying to stand back up but Juston is controlling him
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Juston seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jakelius Juston was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Haze lands a leg kick that knocks Juston off balance momentarily.
Juston takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Haze tries to clinch up

and Juston counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Juston is taking a breather. Haze says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Juston prevents Haze from standing back up.

Juston seems to be working for a kimura but Haze defends the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Juston in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jakelius Juston hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Haze, right into the meat.
Issac Haze is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Juston takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Juston shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Haze sprawls well. Haze wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Juston gets slowly back to his feet.
Issac Haze is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Haze connects with a leg kick. Juston looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Haze scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jakelius Juston comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Juston has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
