Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Mortensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Rummer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Mortensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Rummer!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mortensen dives in and grabs Rummer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rummer pushes down on Mortensen's head and hops out.
Mortensen connects with a leg kick. Rummer looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Mortensen tries to clinch up but Rummer circles away and keeps his distance.
Mortensen moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Rummer avoids the body shot from Mortensen.

Mortensen drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mortensen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rummer is keeping the position for now.
Mortensen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mortensen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rummer trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Rummer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mortensen postures up in Rummer's guard and throws a big left but Rummer blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mortensen trying to control but Rummer is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rummer wants to sweep here but Mortensen controlling him for the moment.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Rummer keeping moving, preventing Mortensen from controlling successfully.

We're going to have a standup here because David Mortensen wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Mortensen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mortensen showed some decent athleticism there.
Mortensen is looking to advance position but Rummer won't allow it.

Rummer wants to improve his position but Mortensen is controlling well.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mortensen works his way into side control.

Mortensen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rummer keeps working.

Rummer is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Mortensen is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Rummer wants to improve his position but Mortensen is controlling well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mortensen tries to stand and escape but Rummer actually recovers to full guard.
Mortensen preventing the sweep.
Mortensen's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Rummer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Rummer is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rummer looking for a sweep. Not yet Rummer, not yet.
Mortensen trying to control the position from guard on top but Rummer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Mortensen dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mortensen needs to keep his hands up - Rummer had a free shot at his head there.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rummer.
Mortensen manages to get back to half guard.
Rummer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Rummer trying to work for an americana but Mortensen has managed to regain full guard.
Mortensen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rummer keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mortensen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Mortensen is keen to just control but Rummer is a slippery customer.

Mortensen wants to take a breather but Rummer is having none of it.
Mortensen keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Rummer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mortensen pulls his head out easily.
Mortensen passes to side control.
Rummer dodges the ground and pound from Mortensen.
Mortensen scores with punches from side control.

Mortensen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rummer is looking for a sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mortensen trying to control the action but Rummer is working from the bottom.
Mortensen controlling the position from side mount.
Rummer wants to control but Mortensen postures up.
Rummer is looking to regain half guard here but Mortensen keeps moving and retains side control.
Mortensen is looking to take a break and control but Rummer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mortensen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rummer to see if he's OK.

Rummer is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mortensen's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Rummer is not content to let Mortensen control the position.
Rummer has hold of Mortensen's hands but Mortensen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mortensen in particular looking to stall.
Rummer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Mortensen is trying to work for a kimura but Rummer is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rummer gets full guard.
Rummer keeping moving, preventing Mortensen from controlling successfully.
Mortensen's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Mortensen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rummer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rummer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mortensen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mortensen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mortensen controlling from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Mortensen dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Rummer gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mortensen to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mortensen's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Mortensen stands and throws Rummer's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Mortensen decides to stand back up.

and Rummer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rummer.
Rummer postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Rummer cracks Mortensen with a solid left hand.

Rummer postures up in Mortensen's guard and throws a big left but Mortensen blocks it.
Rummer being controlled here momentarily.

Mortensen pushes a forearm under Rummer's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rummer is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). David Mortensen!
