Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jan Szczevnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Persson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Persson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Persson!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Persson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Szczevnikov.
Persson avoids a punch combination nicely.

Persson moves into the clinch successfully.
Szczevnikov stops a takedown attempt from Persson.

Szczevnikov is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Persson can't fight it off and eventually Szczevnikov manages to take the fight to the floor. Persson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Szczevnikov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Persson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Szczevnikov is pushing down on Persson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Persson is fighting to maintain full guard but Szczevnikov has managed to sneak the leg through.

Szczevnikov seems to be looking for submissions.
Persson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Persson is trying to maintain the position but Szczevnikov is very close to passing his half guard.
Persson is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Szczevnikov is staying active.
Szczevnikov wants to pass to mount but Persson is defending the position.

Persson is pressing down on Szczevnikov's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Szczevnikov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Persson's waist but Persson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Szczevnikov off to one side.
Szczevnikov throws a right hand that Persson ducks under and follows up with a left that Persson also avoids with ease.
Szczevnikov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Persson stands and steps away. Szczevnikov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Szczevnikov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Persson is trying to maintain the position but Szczevnikov is very close to passing his half guard.

Szczevnikov is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Persson tries to kick Szczevnikov off but Szczevnikov keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Szczevnikov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Szczevnikov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Szczevnikov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Persson tries to roll over but Szczevnikov keeps him under control.

Szczevnikov is looking for a kimura but Persson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Szczevnikov to get the leverage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Szczevnikov is trying to work for a kimura but Persson is defending well.

Szczevnikov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Szczevnikov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Persson tries to avoid it but Szczevnikov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Persson to the ground. Persson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Szczevnikov shoots in for a takedown but Persson shows good takedown defense.

Persson tries to clinch but Szczevnikov is having none of it.

Persson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Szczevnikov sprawls well initially but Persson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Szczevnikov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Persson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Szczevnikov is tightening it up a little... Persson has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Persson reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Persson taps out! nice BJJ there by Szczevnikov!
