Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phil Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and valdirmor kiklov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
kiklov closes the distance and clinches up with Davis, looking for a takedown. kiklov pushes Davis against the cage but Davis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
kiklov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Davis was covering up waiting for the punch and kiklov finishes the takedown easily into guard.
kiklov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
kiklov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Davis connects with a nice looking jab.
Davis throws a right and a left that both miss.
Davis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows kiklov to score an easy takedown into full guard.

kiklov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
OK we're going to have a standup here. valdirmor kiklov hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
kiklov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Davis napping and manages to drive through into side control!
kiklov remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Davis is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, kiklov asserts his dominance and retains side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
I looks like kiklov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

You can see the frustration on Davis's face as kiklov controls the position.
Let's hope that kiklov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

kiklov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten kiklov somewhat.

kiklov tries to move into range but Davis moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
kiklov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Davis's waist but Davis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing kiklov off to one side.
Davis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Davis lands in his opponent's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if kiklov can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

valdirmor kiklov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Davis lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
