PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Porter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sero Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kim's choice of entrance music: CANON in D Korean Version (with gayageum) . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Porter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sero Kim!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Porter tries a low kick but Kim avoids it.
Kim misses with a body kick.
Porter lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Kim is looking to land body kicks.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kim.
Porter lands a jab to the nose.
Porter tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kim was well out of range. Poor timing from Porter.
Porter stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kim.
Porter throws a front kick aimed at Kim's knee but Kim avoids it well.
Kim rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Porter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Porter digs a good body shot into Kim's ribs.
Porter lets loose with a powerful body kick. Kim will feel that in the morning.
Kim moves out of range of the leg kick from Porter.
Porter lands a jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Porter with a nice cross.
Kim swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kim throws a low kick but Porter avoids it.
Porter sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Kim tries to score with a low kick but Porter moves his leg out of the way.
Sero Kim is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Porter misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Porter looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Porter wants to control from the top but Kim keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kim seems keen to control Porter's posture.

Porter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kim keeping full guard, as Porter tries to pass.

Porter drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kim dives on top into guard.
Kim distracts Porter with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Kim decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Porter, up you get!
Kim throws a leg kick but Porter sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Porter looks to land a left hand but Kim moved out of range nicely.
Kim goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kim walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Porter scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Porter swings away with a body shot that misses
and Kim counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Porter is lucky that one didn't land flush.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kim scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Porter throws a leg kick that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kim throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Porter stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Chris Porter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Kim.
Kim fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Porter checks it well.
Porter uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Kim throws a series of punches but Porter avoids them all with ease.
Porter misses with a takedown attempt - Kim sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Porter takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Porter is breathing heavily.
Porter on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kim. Kim obviously looking to wear him down.
A telegraphed right hand from Kim misses the target.
Porter uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kim.
Kim bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Porter tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Porter on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kim. Kim obviously looking to wear him down.
Porter is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Kim lands a front kick.
A cross from Kim lands.
Kim misses with a body shot.
Kim bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A right-left combo lands from Kim.


It looks like Chris Porter has been cut.
Kim connects with a solid leg kick.
Porter slips under a jab from Kim.
An inside leg kick lands from Kim.
Kim misses with a leg kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Porter walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Kim looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Porter takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Kim tries to close the distance and clinch but Porter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Porter throws a looping overhand right but Kim ducks down to avoid it.
Kim lets loose with a powerful body kick. Porter will feel that in the morning.
Kim misses with a kick to the body.
Kim throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Porter showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kim.
Kim throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Porter.
Porter moves out of range of the leg kick from Kim.
Porter misses with a looping right.
Porter lands with a thumping leg kick.
Porter misses with a jab, cross combination.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kim throws a leg kick that is checked
and Porter counters with a straight right hand.
Sero Kim is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A slapping leg kick lands for Kim.
Porter is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Porter connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Porter misses with a body punch
and Kim counters with a low kick, right behind Porter 's knee.
Porter misses with a shot to the body
and Kim makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kim has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kim lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Porter circles away quickly and effectively.
Kim throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Porter.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kim.
Porter blocks a leg kick.
Kim misses with a kick to the body.
Kim tries to land a front kick but Porter steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Porter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kim connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kim fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kim throws a low kick but it's checked well by Porter.

Kim ducks under a wild hook from Porter.
Kim slips a jab from Porter.
Porter takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Kim thows a body kick. Porter tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Kim misses with an uppercut.
Kim lands a nice hook to Porter's body. Porter takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Kim thows a leg kick but Porter checks it
and Porter counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Sero Kim seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Porter keeps the fight on the outside.
Porter avoids the head kick by Kim.
Porter will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.

Porter throws a leg kick but Kim sees it coming and moves out of range.

Porter takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Kim throws a sloppy head kick and Porter moves out of range easily.
Kim tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kim moves out of range of the strikes.

Kim moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Kim connects with a high kick.
Kim fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Kim lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Porter circles away quickly and effectively.

Kim leaves Porter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kim tries to clinch but Porter is having none of it.
Kim uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Porter.
Porter connects with a leg kick. Kim looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sero Kim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Porter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kim but Kim pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kim takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

and Kim counters with a one-two to the body.

Kim throws a push kick but Porter slaps the foot to one side.

An inside leg kick from Kim misses.
Porter lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Kim takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Porter uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kim.
Kim wants to clinch.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Porter checks a leg kick.
Porter looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Porter is looking to slow Kim down with leg kicks.
Kim throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Porter shoots in for a takedown but Kim shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Porter drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kim parries the strikes from Porter easily there. Porter is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kim to escape.
Kim tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Porter is looking to take a break and control but Kim is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kim is looking to reverse the position.
Kim manages to get back to half guard.
Chris Porter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Porter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Porter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kim's head.
Porter trying to control the action but Kim is working from the bottom.
Kim trying to get back to full guard but Porter takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Porter prevents Kim from getting the reversal.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Porter with the ground and pound from mount.
Kim tries to hold on but Porter postures up.
Kim is in a horrible position here. Porter smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Sero Kim is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Porter landing punches.
Kim working to try and regain half guard.
Porter with shots to the head and body - Kim looks very uncomfortable down there.
Porter lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Kim holds on for dear life, controlling Porter's posture momentarily.
Porter unloading with bombs!

And that's the end of the fight!
Chris Porter showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kim has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
