Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brock Letters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saul Lenzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brock Letters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Saul Lenzo!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Letters closes the distance and clinches.

Letters pulls guard effortlessly.
Letters wants to get back to his feet but Lenzo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Lenzo preventing the sweep.
Lenzo is looking to stand up but Letters won't let him.
Letters pulls Lenzo in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Letters tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Lenzo tries to clinch but Letters moves away

and Letters counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lenzo!

Letters working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Letters wants to control the pace but Lenzo is squirming around nicely.
A nice elbow there by Letters.

Lenzo defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Letters.
Letters controlling his opponent.
Lenzo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Letters tries to control but Lenzo wriggling away.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Lenzo tries to lock up and control but Letters gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Letters trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Letters wants to finish this one by submission but Lenzo is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Letters.

Letters looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Letters is working for a guillotine from mount but Lenzo frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lenzo is trying desperately to improve position.
Lenzo tries to hold on but Letters postures up.
Letters looking to control but Lenzo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Letters with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Letters has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lenzo's face.
Lenzo is wriggling around trying to escape.
Letters sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Letters with shots to the head and body - Lenzo looks very uncomfortable down there.
Letters tries to control but Lenzo wriggling away.
Letters controlling the pace for now.
Lenzo is in all sorts of trouble here.

Lenzo wants to control but Letters is having none of it.
Lenzo looks gassed!

Letters has control of Lenzo's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lenzo regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Letters wants to finish this one by submission but Lenzo is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Letters.

Letters is working for a guillotine from mount but Lenzo frees his head quite easily.
Letters tries to control but Lenzo wriggling away.
Letters landing punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Letters takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Letters darts in and clinches Lenzo up against the ropes.
Lenzo prevents a takedown attempt there.
Lenzo is looking to control Letters's arms but Letters gets an underhook and turns him. Now Lenzo has his back to the ropes.
Lenzo tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Letters avoids it.
Letters is pushing Lenzo up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Lenzo misses with an elbow strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Letters jumps guard but Lenzo stands there with Letters around his waist. Letters gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Lenzo is pressed up against the ropes. Letters has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lenzo down to the mat. Lenzo avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brock Letters. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Letters closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Letters lands in his opponent's guard.
Lenzo is trying to control the position but Letters postures up.
Letters has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Letters passes Lenzo's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Brock Letters overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lenzo is breathing heavily.
Lenzo is looking to control Letters's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lenzo avoid being mounted?
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Saul Lenzo wasn't active enough on the ground.

Letters changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lenzo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Letters in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Letters tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Letters has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lenzo is trying to improve his position.
Lenzo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Letters has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Lenzo is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Letters yanks on the arm and Lenzo is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Letters.
