The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Santana defends it nicely.
Santana defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Machida.
Santana misses with a double jab.
Nice defenses there by Machida.
Machida tries for a takedown but Santana sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyoto Machida. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Santana lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

It looks like Lyoto Machida has been cut.
Carlos Santana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machida shoots in for a double leg but Santana sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Santana scores with a hook to the body. Machida takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Machida is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Machida shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Santana sprawls well. Santana wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Machida gets slowly back to his feet.
Santana ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Machida's jaw. Machida's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Santana does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
