Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mohammad Lowal!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lowal misses with a hook.
Lowal waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hansen.
Hansen throws a body punch but Lowal moves out of range.
Hansen lands a slapping body shot.
Lowal misses the shot to the body.
Hansen misses with a hook to the body
and Lowal counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Lowal misses with a wild body shot.
Hansen slips under a jab from Lowal.
Hansen moves out of range as Lowal strikes.
Lowal looks to land a right hand but Hansen moved out of range.
A combination from Hansen does no damage.
Hansen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hansen looks to land a right hand but Lowal moved out of range.
Hansen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Lowal dodges the punch combination from Hansen.
A big right from Lowal misses.
Lowal misses with a looping left.
Hansen falls off balance throwing a combination

so Lowal counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Hansen wants to get back to his feet but Lowal is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Lowal pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hansen is keeping the position for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lowal seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hansen wants to stand but Lowal is controlling the position.
Lowal sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hansen lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hansen.
Hansen avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hansen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
A decent looking cross lands there for Lowal.
Lowal uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hansen.
Hansen throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lowal counters with a series of strikes. Hansen will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Lowal counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lowal steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hansen.

Lowal throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lowal misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Lowal scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Lowal tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hansen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Lowal content to control rather than advance.
Let's hope that Lowal has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hansen is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mohammad Lowal dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hansen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lowal.
A big left from Lowal misses.
Hansen cracks Lowal with an open hand slap.
Lowal shoots for a double leg takedown but Hansen sprawls well. He's pushed Lowal's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lowal throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hansen.
Lowal scores with a one two! Hansen had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Lowal throws a right and a left that Hansen avoids nicely.

Lowal gets a takedown into half guard.
Lowal content to control rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hansen wants to get back to his feet.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Lowal takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Lowal tries to pass to full mount but Hansen defends it.

Mohammad Lowal has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Lowal shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hansen thows a body shot but no joy.
Hansen digs a good hook to Lowal's body.
A punch combination from Hansen misses.
Mohammad Lowal seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hansen takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hansen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lowal was well out of range. Poor timing from Hansen.
Lowal scores with a one two! Hansen had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Lowal lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hansen circles away quickly and effectively.
Mohammad Lowal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lowal shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lowal was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lowal takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Lowal throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Hansen because Lowal loaded up on that one.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mohammad Lowal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lowal throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Lowal avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hansen is looking to wear down Lowal with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Lowal throws a jab but it's blocked by Hansen.
Hansen throws a right hand that Lowal ducks under and follows up with a left that Lowal also avoids with ease.
Hansen looks to land a combination but Lowal avoids it well.

Lowal wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hansen keeps working.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mohammad Lowal hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Lowal ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hansen moves away.

Lowal throws a hook but Hansen avoids it easily.
Sloppy strikes from Lowal. Those never looked like landing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hansen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Hansen stalks Lowal and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lowal's face. Lowal staggers backwards, shaken.

Lowal walks into a stiff left hand from Hansen.

Lowal closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Lowal is looking to take a break and control but Hansen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lowal performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Hansen is trying to stand up here but Lowal is controlling him well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Leon Hansen showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lowal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
