The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kai Gi moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
That kick from Kai Gi tenderised Mastadon's leg. Mastadon is trying to keep his angry face on.

Mastadon gets the takedown into side control.
Mastadon controls the position.
Mastadon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kai Gi on the ground.
Kai Gi tries to improve position but can't.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mastadon wants to free his trapped foot but Kai Gi is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Kai Gi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mastadon pulls his head out easily.
Mastadon is taking a breather. Kai Gi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Donald Mastadon has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Kai Gi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Mastadon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Kai Gi tries to bench press Mastadon off him but Mastadon keeps the position.
Mastadon is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kai Gi will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kai Gi manages to get back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Mastadon seems content to control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Donald Mastadon.

Mastadon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Mastadon has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kai Gi to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Mastadon is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kai Gi pulls down on the head and he's put Mastadon to sleep! This one is all over!
