The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bell can do anything to dispel that myth.

Whitley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Whitley is looking to work some ground and pound but Bell has wrist control.
Whitley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bell is pulling down on Whitley's head. It's preventing any offense from Whitley, at least for the moment.

Whitley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Whitley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Whitley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Whitley has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Whitley throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Whitley is pushing down on Bell's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bell is fighting to maintain full guard but Whitley has managed to sneak the leg through.

Whitley is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bell is just riding it out for now. Whitley eventually gives up the hold.
