PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dhughel McVey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rex Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McVey's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Jump Around by House of Pain. This should be a great matchup!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Parker tries to land knees in the clinch but McVey avoids the damage to the body.

McVey has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Parker uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

McVey scrambles and gets back to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Parker enables McVey to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Parker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McVey loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Parker is trying to control the position but McVey postures up.

McVey stands and steps away. Parker gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

McVey slips a straight right by Parker.

Parker gets tackled into the cage by McVey. McVey maintains the clinch.
Parker wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McVey has him pressed against the cage.
McVey is struggling to control the position.
McVey lands a good knee to the midsection. Parker won't want to take too many of those.

McVey gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Parker.
Parker looks gassed!

McVey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McVey tries a head kick but it misses.
McVey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Parker swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Parker should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
McVey throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McVey misses with a few strikes there.
McVey lands a leg kick that knocks Parker off balance momentarily.

McVey moves into range and clinches up with Parker.

McVey pulls guard.
McVey throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

McVey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Parker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Parker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
McVey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McVey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Parker's guard.
McVey passes Parker's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Parker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McVey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McVey takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rex Parker's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
