The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mandrake displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Alves.
Mandrake attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Mandrake throws a half hearted mid kick.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mandrake as he avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alves closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Alves is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mandrake sees it coming and defends easily.

Alves is trying to work for a kimura but Mandrake is defending well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Alves closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mandrake circles away.
Mandrake throws a low kick but Alves avoids it.
Alves misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Alves drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Mandrake is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Alves creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mandrake sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Alves connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Mandrake some visible discomfort.
