The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Short misses with a straight right.
Johnson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Short misses with a series of wild punches.
Short pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Short darts in trying to clinch

and Johnson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Short lands an uppercut.

Short gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Johnson regains guard.
Short missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Short won't allow Johnson to get back to his feet.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Short postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Short tries to clinch but Johnson moves away
and Johnson finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Short lands with an uppercut that bounces Johnson off the cage and back into rage.
A head kick misses from Johnson.
Johnson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Short throws an overhand right that lands on Johnson's shoulder, as Johnson tries to avoid the shot.
Johnson fails to land the takedown.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses.

Short shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Johnson managing to control the position.
Short trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.
Short working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Short stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Short keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Johnson's head.

Johnson is looking for a triangle but Short pushes his legs off easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Johnson tries to clinch but fails miserably

so Short counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Johnson is on top in guard.
Short looking to control.
Johnson controls from within his opponent's guard.
Short wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position.
Short is looking to sweep but instead, Johnson has passed into half guard.
Short is trying to stand back up but Johnson is controlling him

Short throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Short looking for a guillotine here but Johnson defends easily.
Short keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully.
Short is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Short throws a combination. Johnson tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Johnson has a takedown stuffed.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Short misses with a straight left.

Short shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Short showed some decent athleticism there.

Johnson is rocked!
Short working over Johnson with some ground and pound. Johnson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
