The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spants misses with the combination.
Jubal Early seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some wild striking there from Spants.
Spants connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Spants blocks the body kick.

Early takes the fight into the clinch.
Early keeps control of Spants as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Early's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Good exchange - Spants coming out on top.
Early has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

It looks like Jubal Early has been cut.
Spants lands a nice looking body shot.
Spants darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Spants scores with a punch to the head.
Spants jabs Early right on the nose. Early blinks but takes it well.
Early tries a head kick but it misses.

Early lands a big head kick that sends Spants tumbling to the mat! Early takes a step backwards and waves Spants back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Lou Spants has been cut.
Spants lands with a hook. Early tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Early bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Early! Spants is out on his feet! Early rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Spants is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Spants is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
