Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ulysses Rabelais!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Luiz Fernando Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rabelais slips a straight right by Gonzalez.
Ulysses Rabelais seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gonzalez fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Nice body punch from Rabelais.
Rabelais tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gonzalez throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Gonzalez bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Rabelais tries to clinch up but Gonzalez circles away and keeps his distance.
Gonzalez blocks the body kick.
Gonzalez shoots for a takedown but Rabelais saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rabelais misses with a body punch
and Gonzalez counters with a nice body shot.

Gonzalez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Rabelais is looking to regain half guard here but Gonzalez keeps moving and retains side control.
Gonzalez working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Gonzalez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rabelais tries to bench press Gonzalez off him but Gonzalez keeps the position.

Gonzalez tries to advance to mount but Rabelais denies him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rabelais is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Gonzalez looks up at the clock and then as Rabelais takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gonzalez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rabelais is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gonzalez is controlling him well.
Rabelais knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gonzalez on the ground.

Rabelais bucks up and tries to throw Gonzalez off but instead Gonzalez has got his back!
Gonzalez has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Rabelais's body.
Rabelais is taking damage to the body and head.


It looks like Ulysses Rabelais has been cut.
Rabelais is in bad spot here.
Gonzalez tries to get the hooks in deep but Rabelais pushed the leg off.
Rabelais is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Gonzalez.
Rabelais has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Gonzalez connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Rabelais to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rabelais prevents Gonzalez from getting a body triangle.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Gonzalez. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Gonzalez lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Rabelais is really stuck here.

Gonzalez is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Rabelais has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Gonzalez has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Rabelais taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Gonzalez doesn't care though - he's delighted!
